The Three Major Schools of Numerology

There are three major schools of numerology -

A) Pythagorean Numerology
B) Chaldean Numerology
C) Kabbalah Numerology

A) Pythagorean Numerology

Pythagoras was a Greek philosopher, mathematician and astronomer and the founder of a mystic, religious, and scientific society called Pythagoreans.

He lived around 500 BC , and probably best known for one of his theorems known as "Pythagoras theorem".  He is also known as the "Father of Numbers".

He believed that everything can be described and expressed by numbers and that everything follows rhythmic patterns and cycles. According to Iamblichus, Pythagoras once said that "number is the ruler of forms and ideas and the cause of gods and demons.

It is the most popular form of numerology in the west and the easiest to learn too.

Here, each letter is assigned with a number.
Say A=1 , B=2 and so on...

B) Chaldean Numerology

Chaldean Numerology is also known as "Mystic Numerology" and is one of the oldest and most accurate, although less popular. This is because the Chaldean Numerology system is not as easy to master, and the alphabet values are not in as systematic an order as the other Numerology system.

It was developed by Chaldeans , long time ago , who once occupied the southern part of Babylonia.

In the Chaldean Numerology system the numbers only go from 1 to 8, and not 1 to 9 , as 9 is believed to be the number of the god.

C) Kabbalah Numerology

The Kabbalah ( which means knowledge that comes through the mind and soul rather than through a flesh and blood teacher) originated in Hebrew mysticism, and interprets only the meaning of the name. The Kabbalah was developed for the Hebrew alphabet, and therefore has only 22 vibrations ranging from 1 to 400. It was adapted for the Greek alphabet, then further adapted for the Roman alphabet.
